Samsung announced its long-awaited Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 would get the iconic S Pen at their launch on August 11. Samsung will not launch a new Galaxy Note device this year, Samsung has confirmed. It will allow Samsung Galaxy devices to gain more of the beloved Note features.
On August 11, Samsung's lineup of foldable phones
for 2021, Galaxy Buds 2, and upcoming Wear OS 3.0 smart watches
will debut, while Samsung has designed a special S pen for its foldable phones.
The
upcoming launch of Samsung's foldable devices:
the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 - are
highlighted in an editorial featuring Samsung's head of mobile communications,
Dr. TM Roh.
Roh reiterates in his editorial that Samsung has
confirmed no new Galaxy Note phones will be released this year, as Samsung
confirmed back in March. The Galaxy Note's features will trickle down into
Samsung's other Galaxy devices.
The Samsung vice president also confirmed that the
company designed an S Pen specifically for its foldable phones. Unlike
Samsung's usual foldable phones, which have plastic or Ultra-Thin Glass
displays, foldable Samsung phones are prone to scratches. Thus, it is not
feasible to use a regular S Pen with them since it will easily scratch their
display.
Samsung
might have made improvements to the S Pen to work around this issue.
Samsung
developed an S Pen tailored for foldable phones to fulfill the need for the
device. Unlike Samsung's Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, Samsung's
foldable phones have plastic
or Ultra-Thin Glass display
that is easily scratched. The S Pen can easily damage their devices, so it is
not suitable for use with them. Samsung has decided to improve its new S Pen to
combat this issue.
Foldable
devices from Samsung will reshape the smartphone industry.
Samsung will "reshape the smartphone
category" and completely redesign how you experience smartphones with the
Galaxy Z series. Samsung promises consumers "amazing
multitasking capabilities" and improved
durability with its third-generation folding devices.
Samsung
is working with Google to make many popular apps and services work well on its
foldable devices. Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 will offer more
third-party applications that take advantage of the foldable interface.
The
new Galaxy Z Flip will also have better materials making it more durable
and stylish. Samsung appears
to be addressing the durability issue with its latest foldable device.
Samsung
plans to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip
2, and possibly its first wearable at its August 11
Unpacked event.
